About GR Initiative for Leaders

GR Initiative for Leaders (GRIL) mission is to strengthen leaders to transform communities.  As a result of GRIL’s leadership development programs, teens and adult participation will gain an awareness of their passion and purpose in life.  They will acquire the skill sets necessary to identify spiritual, professional, physical and social goals and be capable of developing a life-long plan to achieve those goals. They use these skills and talents to create positive change in the communities they live, work and worship.

 

Position Description

GRIL is seeking a college student, current graduate student, or recent college graduate who is interested in serving as a social media intern to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will manage all ongoing social media content development, strategy, posting and monitoring with a minimal budget to our target audience of high school youth, young adults, and all leadership audience with the key messages of empowering, equipping, social justice, local community and college prep.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop content calendars on a weekly basis
  • Assist in building and presenting a social media strategy
  • Assist with basic graphic design for flyers, web materials, etc.
  • Ability to understand social media content reaches “insights”.
  • Submit online event postings
  • Publish daily social media post
  • Create engaging blog and input provided content;
  • Assist in general distribution of electronic press releases and  media alerts
  • Update programming presentations

Qualifications

  • Computer skills
  • Expertise of working with social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat, Twitter, Periscope, You tube and others.
  • Strong writing and editing skills;
  • Organized with an ability to prioritize time sensitive assignments;
  • Interest in nonprofit community development;
  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail;
  • A demonstrated commitment to GRIL’s mission and values.

 

 

Hours, Start Date and Duration

Flexible within business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm). A firm commitment of between 10 and 15 hours per week is required. Capability of working remotely. The internship will start at a mutually agreed upon date and may continue through 2016 – 2017 academic year depending on schedule, mutual interest and satisfactory performance. This is an unpaid internship.
