The Wyoming Math Initiative (WMI) will be an after-school math intervention program that will be implemented across all four Wyoming school districts (Wyoming Public, Kelloggsville, Godfrey-Lee, and Godwin Heights). Through partnering with TEAM 21, an established after-school program through the Wyoming Parks and Recreation Department, WMI will be targeting 3rd-5th graders to help them learn math in new and exciting ways.

The program will run 3:00pm-6:00pm Mondays through Thursdays.  The math intervention itself will run for 45-60 minutes two days a week, with the other two days used as preparation time.  Two AmeriCorps members will be placed at each site and will oversee three high school tutors from the same district as the elementary school site.  Together the AmeriCorps members and high school students will tutor the elementary school students receiving the intervention.  All tutors will receive training on the math intervention, no previous experience necessary.

The AmeriCorps member commitment would be a total of 900 hours from October through August 2018.  AmeriCorps members will be given a stipend of $6,400 for the 900 hours, as well as a post-educational award of $2,907.50.
