The GRIL U teens participated in asset mapping walks of the neighborhood of the ministry organization they represent. They took time to listen to the sounds, look for signs of hope, building structures and message of the people who live there. The purpose of asset mapping is to help them learn what it means to see ‘assets’ in a community rather than to see ‘needs’ which is often what we as humans do.
Have you recently learned about the history and story of your neighborhood? What are your neighborhood’s assets? Do you consider yourself one of those assets?
