On Friday June 28th, a group of students and community members had the opportunity to hear from two Grand Rapids celebrities, Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillan and William Jackson. Peter “Kid Chocolate” is the WBO Boxing Middle weight champion of the world, currently undefeated, and signed to Showtime sports. William Jackson, aka,Willie the Kid is a well-known and established rapper and producer. Both gentlemen spoke about some of their personal and professional challenges and offered advice about how to overcome and remain focused, while dealing with the obstacles and challenges they both faced. Students in attendance had an opportunity to ask questions, take pictures and receive autographed items. Both gentlemen emphasized the importance of developing a healthy work ethic as well as the importance of giving back to the community.
