Position:              Community Relations and Development Coordinator

Reports to:         Executive Director

Status:                  Full-Time

Position Summary:  The Community Relations and Development Coordinator (CRDC) is responsible for developing and implementing community relations and fund development strategies for GR Initiative for Leaders. Reporting to the Executive Director, the CRDC will be responsible for achieving the annual fundraising goals for the organization.


  • Develop and implement annual fund development plan
  • Develop and implement annual community relations action plan
  • Coordinate grant research and writing efforts
  • Oversee and engage in cultivating and nurturing relationships with current and potential donors, including but not limited to: church partners, corporate sponsors, GRIL graduates, and individual donors
  • Manage volunteer program
  • Develop and grow donor relationships by coordinating small group gatherings and special events
  • Develop and coordinate direct mail campaigns, including but not limited to: newsletters, gift acknowledgements, and annual appeals
  • Oversee management of donor data, coordinating data entry, data hygiene and reports
  • Support fund development committee
  • Coordinate media relations, social media and brand awareness strategies
  • Equip and empower staff, board, alumni and volunteer teams to engage in community relations and fund development activities
  • Incorporate Transformational Giving strategies into fund development plan
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor


  • Affirmation of the Christian faith
  • Ability to develop, empower and lead teams
  • Ability to make personal gift solicitations
  • Must be culturally competent in urban ministry environment
  • Have a heart for God and community
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least three years’ experience in fund development
  • Giftworks experience a plus

About Us:  GR Initiative for Leaders (GRIL) is a faith-based organization created by alumni of the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative (DVULI). GRIL invests in emerging leaders by providing training over a nine month period using the scripturally based DVULI curriculum to help leaders expand or develop the core values of balance, accountability, empowerment, interdependence, leverage, and diversity.
