On February 10th, the Emerge participants met to learn more about Collaboration and Networking through an activity called “Making Change”. The participants broke off into teams and worked as an Equity Committee for a school system. Their charge was to plan and implement efforts to ensure educational equity for students – the joy for them was in winning over other educators and parents to support and implement equity in their work and to make changes that would benefit students. I’m guessing you can imagine the word “joy” has a tone of sarcasm in it. In the debriefing session at the end, participants talked about the importance of understanding ourselves in this work to better understand the beauty of relationships to better become seed planters. More importantly, the challenge to rise up and recognize the power of our God, the beauty of His people and the challenge to lead for change!
